Thinking About Moving a Portable Building? Here’s How to Ensure a Smooth Move

Relocating a portable building, whether it's a tiny home, office, or other structure, involves careful planning.

By providing some key information upfront, you can help us ensure that everything goes smoothly and that you receive an accurate quote.

While we’re available to visit your site, your input is invaluable in making the process as efficient as possible.

1. Capture the Access Route with Photos or Videos

Start by documenting the route from the main road to your building’s location.

Take clear photos or videos that highlight any potential challenges, such as narrow gateways, low-hanging trees, or powerlines.

These visuals help us anticipate any obstacles and plan the best approach.

2. Provide Accurate Building Dimensions

Accurate measurements of your portable building are crucial for a trouble-free move. Measure from the outside, including the widest points, and account for any protruding features like door handles, califonts, or gutters.

These details help us avoid any surprises on moving day, ensuring your building can be transported smoothly.

3. Measure Tight Spots in Your Driveway

Driveways often present challenges, especially if they have tight spots between trees or gateposts.

Measure these areas to give us a better understanding of the space we’ll need to navigate.

If reading a tape measure is difficult, lay it on the ground, take a photo at the narrowest point, and capture a close-up of the numbers.

4. Identify Any Route Hazards

Besides the driveway, consider any other hazards along the route from the main road to your site, such as low-hanging trees or powerlines.

By identifying and photographing these hazards, you help us plan a safe and efficient move, reducing the risk of delays or damage.

5. Share Site Preparation and Placement Details

If your site isn’t fully prepared, take a photo of the area where you want your building to be placed.

Use your phone to draw on the photo, marking where you want the doors to face or noting any other key details.

This helps ensure that your building is positioned correctly when it arrives.

6. Provide Foundation or Pad Details

If you’ve installed a foundation or pad for your building, let us know whether it’s at ground level or if there’s a slope or drop-off.

If there’s a height difference, take photos and include measurements of the height change. This information is crucial for positioning the building accurately and securely.

7. Consider Lifting Points and Crane or Hiab Access

It’s essential to identify any lifting points. Take photos to show us the setup.

Let us know where these points are located to ensure a safe and efficient lift. Additionally, think about where a crane or Hiab can park during the move.

Consider access for these vehicles and any space constraints they might face.

Providing this information helps us plan the lift and position your building correctly on the new site.

8. Lets us know the weight.

If you know the weight - let us know. Remember to consider whats inside the building, furniture, fridges and beds for example.

The heavier the building may affect the cost as we size the equipment required.

9. Ensure We Have Accurate Contact Information

Finally, provide accurate contact details for both the pickup and drop-off locations.

This allows us to coordinate the move effectively, address any questions that arise on-site, and provide you with estimated arrival times.

Why Your Input is Valuable

By sharing this information, you play a crucial role in ensuring that your portable building move is smooth and hassle-free.
